No need to take apart all control arm links and tie rod end, just LOOSEN the inner ends of 2 control arm links and the whole thing will drop, allowing the strut to be removed.
Well filmed and helpful, tech was handy too. Should always change the top mounts at the same time. Whilst the bearing may feel okay, the rubber in the top mount had flattened and needed replacing, should sit higher than that (7:00) Old vs New shot would demonstrate the difference in height to justify replacement :) They're relatively cheap and the customer will feel the difference in ride quality.
Nice video - the only thing missing on required tools was the four post ramp! Working outside, on the floor, in front of my house I don't have access to one......or a garage. That's obviously not the fault of the video - which I can't fault except to say that everything came undone very easily

Hi there, great video. I have an LCI 2013 bmw e92 320d with M Sport suspension. I cannot seem to find the exact difference between parts for normal suspension and M Sport. Would these same parts in the video fit and keep the same type of ride quality/height?
I tested 2 visually identical cars e93 same day one had m sport suspension and another one didnt, non m sport was a lot softer while m sport a lot firmer
Thank you for your feedback. A slight error is allowed when assembling the suspension. We will certainly try to prevent this from happening in the future. Best regards, Autodoc team.

@@ThunderbirdRocketI wrote this over a year ago and had to watch the video to remind my self what he even did 😅. Basically you don’t need to disconnect all the suspension arms from the wheel carrier. Loosen the tension arm at the sub frame , don’t need to remove the bolt. Jack up the strut to remove tension from anti roll bar link, remove the top bolt, slide out the anti roll bar linkage from the strut. Now you can unbolt the strut from the chassis and top mount. The whole mechanism will drop down. Just be careful of the fender and you can unbolt the wheel carrier strut bolt and slide the strut out. In short you’ve loosens two bolt compared to removing all the arms as seen in the video.

Thanks, even the workshop manual didnt call to remove wishbone

I had to go back and put in new top mounts because I didn't replace them and they were giving me problems... so this is good advice.
Extraordinary detail ! Super helpful !! I learned lots !!! Thanks mate . 👊🏼 🎯
If my tie rod is rubbing on the sway bar is it because I installed the tie rod first and it wasn’t straight or is something else wrong

Thanks for the clarification, we will take that into account in the next videos.

I mean frankly I do this on 4 jack stands no issues. Wish I could have a 2 car large garage but eh it's not that bad.
What is the tightening torque for the 18 hex. nut on the stub axle?

Do you need a wheel alignment after this job?
Yes.
Yes, after any work related to the suspension of the car, it is recommended to carry out the alignment/camber correction.
Excellent.
Yeah
at 10:30, the screw of the control arm should be the other way in!

You do not need to do all that that to remove the shock. Make a new vid
Thanks for your comment. We are constantly working to improve our videos.
So you know how to do it with less work? Why don't you just make your own vid 😂
Can you please elaborate / specify what the simpler alternative method would be ?
